The very first Future Proof Event for Young professionals was all about ESG. The meeting was a great success and a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge and networking with a diverse group of IT auditors. The meeting brought together a diverse group of IT auditors, ranging from students taking their first steps in the profession to seasoned professionals.
Marcus Looijenga (ESG partner at PwC) took the group through the key developments and challenges surrounding ESG reporting and once again emphasized the importance of this topic. Not only because of compliance requirements, referring to the EU Green Deal, but mainly to preserve the natural beauty of our planet for future generations.
Using some examples, Marcus addressed the complexity of the problem and it quickly became clear that IT auditors will play an important role in the challenges lying ahead around the reliability of ESG reporting.
Also, Jeroen Francot (chairman NOREA Taskforce ESG) and Roel Ronken (NOREA Taskforce ESG) were present and shared their expertise and practical examples, encouraging participants to reflect on how IT auditors can contribute to reliable and efficient reporting processes around ESG.

Het allereerste Future Proof Event voor Young Professionals stond geheel in het teken van ESG. De bijeenkomst was een groot succes en een waardevolle gelegenheid voor kennisuitwisseling en netwerken met een diverse groep IT-auditors. De bijeenkomst bracht een diverse groep IT-auditors samen, variërend van studenten die hun eerste stappen zetten in het vakgebied tot aan doorgewinterde professionals.
Marcus Looijenga (ESG-partner bij PwC) nam de groep mee in de belangrijkste ontwikkelingen en uitdagingen rond ESG-rapportages en benadrukte nogmaals het belang van dit thema aan. Niet alleen vanwege de internationale afspraken, verwijzend naar de EU Green Deal, maar met name omdat we willen dat toekomstige generaties ook kunnen genieten van de natuurlijke schoonheid van onze planeet. Aan de hand van enkele voorbeelden schetste Marcus de complexiteit van het probleem en al gauw bleek dat IT-auditors een belangrijke rol gaan spelen in de uitdagingen die te wachten staan rond de betrouwbaarheid van ESG-rapportages.
Ook Jeroen Francot (voorzitter NOREA Taskforce ESG) en Roel Ronken (NOREA Taskforce ESG) waren aanwezig en deelden hun expertise en praktijkvoorbeelden, waarbij ze de deelnemers aanmoedigden om na te denken over de manieren waarop IT-auditors kunnen bijdragen aan betrouwbare en efficiënte rapportageprocessen rond ESG.
