The annual ISACA Risk Event once again proved to be a pivotal gathering for IT risk and cybersecurity professionals. Hosted on 6 November 2025 by the ISACA Netherlands Chapter in partnership with IIA Netherlands, NOREA, and PvIB, the event featured an impressive line-up of top speakers and over 550 participants, the event, underscoring the importance of resilience in today’s digital landscape.

This year’s theme, Purple Ocean – Inspiring Change and Creating Value, addressed pressing topics in governance, risk, regulation, and resilience. Featuring three keynote speakers, 16 top experts, and two interactive workshops, the event provided a unique opportunity for professionals to explore the latest developments in risk management and cybersecurity.

Strengthening resilience

Hans de Vries, Chief Operating Officer of the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), delivered a powerful keynote on ‘NIS2 – Building up Resilience in the EU’s Critical Sectors’. He highlighted major cyber threats facing the European Union and the role of the NIS2 directive in strengthening the resilience of digital infrastructures. “The objective of NIS2 aligns with ENISA’s mission: to achieve a high common level of cybersecurity across the EU,” said De Vries. “Harmonisation among member states and cross-border collaboration are essential to this goal.”

Challenges and solutions

In addition to De Vries, notable speakers included Pav Gill (known as the Wirecard whistleblower), Dimitri van Zantvliet (Director of Cybersecurity and CISO at NS), Jeroen van Kesteren (CISO at De Nederlandsche Bank), Mimoent Haddouti (Partner, PwC Cyber, Forensics, and Privacy Practice), and Arnoud Engelfriet (CKO, ICTRecht). Each provided unique perspectives on the latest challenges facing the industry, and practical insights.
